Muuto A/W 2018

Muuto have released some gorgeous new products for Autumn/Winter this year and I’ve taken a look at a few of them below.

Outline Chaise Longue

I love the shape of this chair; the seats are big enough for a proper cosy up but those thin legs keep it looking elegant and sculptural rather than bulky. You can also buy it as a corner sofa and with a pouf giving you some great seating options.

70/70 Table

This is my idea of the perfect Scandi or minimalist table. It looks so good as a desk for a home office in the photograph below. Those thin metal legs are so elegant and structural and the work surface retains a light feeling. There are quite a few different colourways for the table but I think I would have to go for the black legs with either the wood or the white work surface.

Fiber Armchair Swivel

Continuing on the home office theme, how good would this chair look next to the 70/70 table? Muuto explains on their website that the “shell consists of an innovative composition of plastic and up to 25% wood fibres. The wood fiber and plastic blend is injected into the mold, forming the chair’s shell”. I think I’d love to spend my working day sat in this chair.

Folded Shelves

I am loving these shelves - they’re such a unique and creative design allowing you to really play around with how you store and display things in them. They’re such a great cross between something sculptural and beautiful by itself and something that can be highly practical too. There’s a great interview with the designer Johan van Hengel about his design of the shelves on the Muuto website here.

The Dots

The Dots, designed by Lars Tornøe, are made of oiled oak and ash wood and are part of the permanent collection at the Danish Design Centre. They’re a playful take on your normal coat hook but I like how natural they are with that curved shape and the beautiful wood.

Platform Tray

Last but not least, the gorgeous Platform Tray; perfect for holding a cup of coffee and pastry for a mid-morning break. The design fuses Scandi design with Japanese artisanry so is bang on trend at the moment. It comes in a dark red or a grey both of which look good although I think I’d prefer the grey one.
