Interiors: finds for Spring
March is already here and I know that it’s still technically Winter but these last few days of warmer sunshine and tulips coming into the shops has got me thinking about Spring and lighter days. I thought I would create a visual board of things that have caught my eye recently from some of my favourite Scandi brands and that would work perfectly together to create a relaxing corner in the house to sit and enjoy this new season from.
My corner would have to have a good chair in it and the WM String Lounge Chair (from MENU) would work perfectly. I love how simple, light and airy this chair is and yet it still looks relaxing and the perfect spot to sit and read a book in whilst basking in the Spring sunshine.
The WM String Lounge Chair comes with a seat cushion but, in my view, you can never have enough cushions in life. This linen cushion in moss green from By Molle. Green is a colour that is really popping up in interiors at the moment but more importantly for me, I think this colour is rich and classic enough to outlast the trend and adds that hint of nature. It also adds a little weight and depth to the other much lighter colours of the furniture.
As the weather warms up I am totally ready to ditch the socks and walk around bare foot. In the evenings though it’s nice to have something a little warmer underfoot and I really like this Pebble Rug from Muuto. It’s made from wool and jute and it just looks so clean and fresh.
I”m in two minds about coffee tables or side-tables. They can look beautiful and its more than a little handy having somewhere to put your mug and a good book but they’re also prone to attracting clutter towards them. I’m intrigued by the design of this side table from Ferm Living though. It’s made of a beautiful solid ash which is light and complements the airiness of the table top that is made to look like it’s floating on the geometric joint. I find the shape fascinating - it’s different and not what you usually expect from a table.
Having enough storage in a house is essential but it can also be beautiful and show off your possessions to their fullest. I really like the simple structure of the Norr Shelf designed by Ditte Buus Nielsen and sold by Skagerak. The shape is timeless, the oak makes it look light and almost delicate whilst the leather strap gives it that little bit of character and interest. It would be a great place to keep your books and display a few personal items. or a vase or two.
You don’t need a beautiful mug to enjoy the pleasure of sipping a hot drink but I reckon this Raw Ceramic Mug from White Black Grey would definitely add to it. Handmade, oversized and round shaped to fit into your hands - this is my idea of what a mug should be like.
Of all the seasons, I am probably most aware of nature in Spring. Everything seems to wake up from its dormant winter state and the colour of the leaves and flowers seem so much brighter for having come after the paler tones of Winter. It is such a good month to bring a bit more nature into a room and this Ceramic “Grid” Pot from at White Black Grey looks like it would be a great addition to hold a new house plant.
Last but not least this pink metal dish from H&M Home had to go into this collection because it’s the perfect Spring colour and I just love a tray.
